Vehicle rates effective as of July 1, 2008
MSU Vehicle Office only charges a day rate for State vehicles.
Drivers under the age of 21 are not allowed to utilize state vehicles Out-of-State.
Fuel purchased for State vehicles is not charged to individual accounts.
Half day rate requires the vehicle to return by 1:30 p.m.
- Full Day rate will take effect if the sedan or minivan is used all day or after 2:00 PM
- Half Day rate will take effect if the sedan or minivan is returned prior to 1:30 p.m. Large vans will be allowed a half day rate if they are used for 4 hours or less per day
The designated high mileage rate of reimbursement, effective as of July 1, 2008 - December 31, 2008:
- State-owned vehicle not available 58.5 cents per mile
- State-owned vehicle available 51.5 cents per mile
A large number of our State vehicles are fueled by E-85.
- Vehicles that are E-85 have logo's affixed on the gas cap door and on the key packs as a reminder for you.
- These vehicles may use unleaded or E-85 fuel.

$100/trip “surcharge” per vehicle/per trip for out-of-state travel on state vehicles (Effective July 1, 2006).
- The reason for the increase is that MnSCU’s out-of-state travel insurance premium have dramatically increased on our “fair-share” amount with an increase of $40,000 which brought our premiums to $54,000 per year.
